BAR1's Johnny Mowlem puts Spongebob on pole in Rolex 24 return

The PC pole goes to BAR1 Motorsports and the returning Johnny Mowlem.

After three years away, Johnny Mowlem has returned to the Rolex 24 and he has done so in style. With Spongebob Squarepants adorning the nose of the car, Mowlem stole the top spot from Colin Braun and CORE Autosport.

His lap of 1:42.48 was almost a full four tenths quicker than Braun who was looking to go back-to-back in terms of poles at Daytona.

"In a 24 hour race, it's slightly less significant to be on pole but it's still nice," said Mowlem. "I got to the bus stop and took this 21 year old mentality and took a few liberties, fortunately getting through it."
